How Sway supports recycled and sustainably-made fashion to bring you the highest quality polewear.
Sustainability is very important to us at Sway. We want to make sure you look hot, without raising the temperature of the planet!
We support sustainable practices to create fashion with a smaller global footprint and with greater accountability and transparency throughout the entire development process. We are always looking for new ways to bring you the highest quality material while continuing to do our part to protect our world for future generations. We are a slow fashion brand and think vegan. No animals are ever hurt in the process of making our polewear and accessories. There’s no leather, wool, silk or any other animal byproducts in our collections—ever. Instead, we find new and innovative materials that provide superior fit and function while being ethical and cost effective.
Our newest collection, Senses, was made with a revolutionary new material called ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon. It feels exactly the same as brand-new nylon material and can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.
Creating ECONYL starts by reclaiming waste nylon such as from carpet remnants or used fishing nets. Then the material is recycled through a process that restores the used, waste nylon back to its original state. Finally, it is made into yarn that becomes fabric and we turn it into beautiful and functional pole, active and swimwear! The entire process can be repeated over and over again in a giant cycle. Your Sway polewear could be reclaimed and live a new life—maybe this time as a pair of shoes! That would be poetic.
Using ECONYL helps the planet. For every 10,000 tons of ECONYL made, we save 70,000 barrels of crude oil and avoid 65,100 tons of CO2 emissions. Additionally, It reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil. Who knew that so much oil goes into making fashion?
Additionally, our popular and versatile Namasway pants are crafted from ECOVERO, a viscose material made of certified, renewable wood sources using an eco-responsible production process in Italy. The manufacturing of these fibers generates 50% lower CO2 emissions and needs less water than traditionally created viscose materials. Viscose is a fabric made of wood pulp used as a substitute for silk that has a similar feel and movement to silk.
Both materials are approved and certified eco-friendly by the EU. Buying local is important to us and as an EU-based company, we always want to shop and work locally with complete transparency in our supply chain.
All the metal hardware details in the Senses collection including rings, adjusters and our new logo plate are made locally in Poland and coated with a hypoallergenic, nickel-free coating. We choose metal because it is easier to recycle and stands the test of time. It won’t rust when you wash your polewear or when you swim in it.
We are so excited to be on the forefront of providing sustainable, responsible and eco-friendly polewear to all our Sway Savvy fans!
